APS, TEP + UniSource 2026 Cool-Roof Rebate Amounts (Actual Dollars)

Three AZ utilities offer cool-roof rebates. Here's the 2026 dollar amounts + how to claim.

Three AZ electric utilities pay rebates for cool-roof installations.

The 2026 program details (current as of April 2026):

APS (Arizona Public Service)

Program: APS Cool Roof Rebate

  • $0.05/sq ft for SRI 64+ shingles or coatings
  • $0.10/sq ft for SRI 75+ (white/very-light shingles)
  • Cap: $400 per home, lifetime
  • Eligibility: APS-served address, primary residence, installed

by AZ ROC contractor

Typical 2,200 sq ft Prescott Valley home: $110-$220 rebate.

Submit via aps.com/coolroof — turnaround 6-8 weeks.

TEP (Tucson Electric Power)

Program: TEP Cool Roof Rebate

  • $0.06/sq ft SRI 70+
  • $0.12/sq ft SRI 80+
  • Cap: $500 per home
  • Eligibility: TEP-served, primary residence, contractor licensed

Tucson + Sierra Vista metro only. Turnaround ~10 weeks.

UniSource Energy Services (UNS)

Program: UNS Cool Roof Rebate

  • $0.05/sq ft SRI 70+
  • Cap: $300 per home
  • Eligibility: UNS-served (rural Yavapai includes some UNS

territory)

Smallest of the three programs but easiest paperwork.

Federal 25C tax credit (stacks on utility rebates)

The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) pays

a tax credit of:

  • 30% of the cost (materials only, not labor)
  • Cap: $1,200/year for cool-roof + insulation combined
  • Eligibility: Energy Star-certified products, primary residence

For a 2,200 sq ft Prescott cool-roof at $14,800 total

(~$8K materials):

  • Federal 25C: ~$2,400 (max $1,200 in any single year)
  • APS rebate: $110-$220
  • Total subsidy: $2,510-$2,620

Rebate paperwork timeline:

  1. Save manufacturer SRI letter + receipts (do this BEFORE the

crew leaves)

  1. Submit utility rebate within 90 days
  2. Claim 25C on your taxes the year of installation (Form 5695)
